Two chemicals are used in AST.95 to change the surface of tiles so that they are no longer slippery when wet. The goal of AST.95 is to make ceramic surfaces less slippery.

Since AST.95 is not a coating but a part of the glaze of the tile, it can’t be washed off. This treatment prevents slipping by changing the molecular structure of the surface of a ceramic tile or any other surface that contains silica. It is a one-of-a-kind solution that makes use of two distinct chemicals—an activator and a fixative—and it represents a significant improvement above any other product that is currently on the market, both in the United States and elsewhere. The treatment, once applied, provides both an anti-slip effect as well as a hardening of the surface of the tile, which results in improved tile life.

When the treatment is applied, the activator is sprayed over the floor area, and then at a pre-defined interval, which is established by testing the tile surface that is going to be treated. The anti-slip effect that was necessary has been completed, and now the fixative may be put to the same area.

After that, this mixture is allowed to sit on the area that is being treated for a few minutes. After that, the surplus is removed, and the entire area is cleaned in clean water until it is completely clear. After treatment, the region in question may be used right away; there is no need to wait for it to cure or through any other process.

Does The Treatment Last Long?

It’s a treatment that won’t wear off over time, so the tile may be used forever. It’s not a layer on top of the tile glaze; rather, it’s a component of the glaze itself. Usually, it does not affect the tile’s color or look. The treatment is as long-lasting as the tile itself and is impervious to water, detergents, and UV rays.
